If you are just starting out in Online Marketing, Backlinks may sound scary. If that sounds like you , I will explain you what Backlinks are, where to buy backlinks and why everybody thinks that they are important
A backlink is a link from website owned by someone to your website. The term backlink is used since the link is coming back to your website from some other website. If you had a good post on your blog and if some other blogger found to be useful , he/she would include your URL in their blog, that makes a backlink .
But, Why do you need to get Backlinks ? Or what makes backlinks so important for your online marketing efforts?
The goal of your internet marketing efforts is to get your website ranked higher in all search engines. To do that you have to tell search engine that your website has commanding content for the search term. One of the ways that search engines find authority is how many incoming links a website has. Think of backlinks as votes to your website from other websites and blog. Higher the count of these votes , search engines will consider you a larger? authority and rank higher.
Once you start ranking in top position in any search engine, you will start seeing increase in traffic to your website or blog. This traffic is also free and highly targeted. That’s why it is so important that you get backlinks and get your website ranking.
How do I get Backlinks?
There are quite a few ways to get backlinks. Some of them are legitimate and good but some of them are frowned upon by Google and other search engines. I will show you some good white hat techniques on getting backlinks.
- If you are knowledgeable in your field you can write short articles in your area of expertise and submit to article directories. These article directories have resource box at the end of each article where you can put your link along with anchor text. This is not only gives you a backlink but also free traffic from people visiting these article directories.
- Look for blogs related to your business. Leave a comment on blog post that you find to be interesting and helpful. All Comment forms have a website field where you can put your website address.
- There are lots of free directories that will allow you to list your website along with links to your website. Create a schedule everyday to list your website on these directories/
- Find a forum that is focuses around your industry or expertise. Reply to questions by other users or post questions. Most forums allow links in signature area where you can put your website link.
The important thing is to create a schedule and stick to that schedule of creating these different kinds of Backlinks. You will start seeing the effects of your backlinking with increased rankings.
